Mr. Abdulrahman Jalal Shaher, Secretary-General of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), received today in the capital, Aden, His Excellency Evgeny Kudrov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, and several embassy officials.
During the meeting, which was attended by Dr. Mahmoud Shaif, Office Director of the STC President, the Secretary-General welcomed both the newly appointed Ambassador Kudrov and the resumption of the Russian embassy's work from the capital, Aden, and discussed with the Ambassador the latest developments in the political process and ways to achieve a comprehensive and just peace with all parties involved in its formulation.
Mr. Shaher reaffirmed the Transitional Council's readiness to provide all facilities enabling the staff of the Russian embassy in the capital, Aden, to carry out their diplomatic duties efficiently and effectively.
In another context, the STC Foreign Affairs Authority held a meeting with the Russian Ambassador, which was attended by Mohammed Ali Ahmed, the deputy head of the Authority. Dr. Al-Haj, head of the Authority, reviewed the depth of the historical relations that have linked Aden and Moscow through decades of cooperation and partnership, highlighting the pivotal role of the Russian Federation in supporting the comprehensive political process.
The meeting also touched on economic reform efforts aimed at easing the negative impact of the war and its repercussions on citizens, in addition to the worsening economic and humanitarian situation caused by the repeated attacks by the Houthi militia on border fronts and its threats to vital facilities and infrastructure.
For his part, the Russian Ambassador Kudrov reiterated his country's position in backing a political solution, pointing to Moscow's commitment to supporting regional and international endeavors aimed at bringing about a durable peace to the region.
