Official Statement of Rejection and Condemnation on Remarks by Foreign Minister Shaya Muhsin

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) expresses its strong rejection and condemnation of the remarks made by Foreign Minister Shaya Muhsin that contained a clear insult to the cause of the people of the South, contradicted the reality of existing political understandings, and represented an attempt to overturn the established facts of the partnership emanating from the Riyadh Agreement, the Riyadh consultations, and the understandings with the Arab Coalition.

The Minister's remarks represent a personal opinion that does not reflect the collective stance nor the mutually agreed-upon commitments between the partners. They also confirm an exclusionary approach, evident in the Minister's practices of targeting Southern cadres and their level of representation within the ministry, which overstep the foundational principles of partnership and balance endorsed by the agreements.

The STC reaffirms that the cause of the people of the South is a national cause, rooted in the immense sacrifices made by our people of the South and established as a reality on the ground, and has been recognized by political understandings and is set to be solidified in the ceasefire negotiations and the upcoming comprehensive political process, and the choice to restore the state of the South is an inherent and legitimate right, not subject to compromise.

In light of this, the STC calls upon the Riyadh Agreement government to urgently clarify its position regarding these statements and to take the necessary measures to ensure such transgressions, which undermine consensus and damage the spirit of partnership, are not repeated, and warns of the consequences of continuing to promote such incorrect and unagreed-upon positions.
