The STC Spokesman's Statement on Recent Economic Developments

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

The Full Statement of the Southern Transitional Council (STC),

To the Masses of Our Proud People of the South

Acting upon the STC’s popular mandate and recognizing the critical importance of the economic front, the Council reaffirms to the people of the South that it is pursuing measured steps to protect and fortify achieved accomplishments. It further aims to build upon these foundations to secure additional gains that will generate a positive difference in improving citizens' lives.

Fellow masses of our people,

The improvement of the local currency exchange rate and its tangible positive impact on citizens’ livelihoods constitutes an achievement that would not have been realized without the calibrated measures implemented incrementally, and the STC had a weighty role in this outcome through the engagements of its leadership, led by His Excellency President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, who performed a pivotal role from his position on the PLC, maintained close follow-up, and directly oversaw governmental performance. President Al-Zubaidi's efforts were concerted with those of Vice President Abdul Rahman al-Muharrami and government members to reach this tangible achievement.

The popular protests across cities and towns of the South, demanding an end to economic collapse and improved services, have contributed to removing roadblocks imposed by influential powers against economic reforms and corrective measures and constituted a catalyst that empowered reform advocates to advance aspects of the comprehensive economic reform plan.

To the masses of our Southern people,

You have demonstrated political awareness and the ability to diagnose reality by accurately assigning responsibility for deteriorating conditions when your actions thwarted attempts by forces hostile to the project of the South, who sought to exploit service collapses and declining living standards to turn Southern public opinion against the Transitional Council and the project of restoring the state of the South. You correctly identified the core issue: holding entities controlling the state's economic resources accountable for the economic and service breakdown, while simultaneously holding the STC responsible for confronting these powers. Thus, His Excellency President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi’s recent actions constitute a calculated response to the demands of the Southern street.

Our People of the South,

As the STC highlights its pivotal role in this achievement, we do not overlook the contributions of our partners—led by Prime Minister Salem bin Breik, his government team, and Central Bank officials. We commend their efforts in advancing the comprehensive economic reform program through controlling revenues, rationalizing expenditures, combating corruption, and promoting local production so that no setback may occur against attained gains. We further urge the government to bolster private sector support and ensure a stable investment climate, securing sustained economic recovery.

The STC reaffirms to the government the provision of the appropriate political environment and supportive security framework to enable them to move forward with the reform program, and the Southern military forces and security services will serve as backing and a strong arm for the judiciary and public prosecution in enforcing the law against obstructors of comprehensive reforms.

Long live the sterling will of the people of the South, gripping the embers of steadfastness for their national liberation project.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you all.
