President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), virtually met today, Wednesday, with HE Steven H. Fagin, U.S. Ambassador to Yemen.
The meeting discussed the
latest developments in the country's political and security situation, with a particular focus on the ongoing Houthi escalation in the vital international shipping lanes in the Red Sea, Bab al Mandab Strait, and Gulf of Aden, exploring ways to unify efforts and coordinate regional stances to counter the arrogance of these militias and contain the threats posed by their continued terrorism both on land and sea.
In this context, both sides discussed ways to enhance security cooperation with the USA to ensure the success of efforts to deter the terrorist activities of the Houthi militia through airstrikes, preventing the smuggling of weapons from Iran, and drying up the funding resources that it relies on to finance its hostile actions.
Both sides underscored the importance of concerted efforts to support and strengthen the internationally recognized government and to assist its efforts in finding immediate solutions to halt the economic collapse by bolstering resources and intensifying support from friendly and brotherly countries, directing it towards development projects.
The meeting was attended from the STC by Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission assisting the Presidium of the STC, Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, and Mr. Amr Al-Beidh, member of the STC's Presidium and Special Representative of the President of the STC for Foreign Affairs, and from the American side, Mr. Houston R. Harris, Political Officer in the U.S. Mission to Yemen.
