Al-Muharrami Reviews Status of Land Authority and Performance Development Plans

Mr. Abdul Rahman Abu Zara'a Al-Muharrami, Deputy President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Wednesday with Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, Head of the General Authority for Land, Survey, and Urban Planning, to discuss the authority’s workflow and development strategies.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Muharrami was briefed on the authority’s performance and its branches in governorates, including efforts to regulate its functions, document government-owned lands and properties, and prevent encroachments.

Al-Muharrami listened to a detailed briefing on the ongoing administrative, legal, technical, and financial reforms, as well as measures to address land disputes and violations in coordination with judicial authorities.

In this context, Al-Muharrami lauded the authority’s decision to grant stalled investors a final deadline before proceeding to revoke the allocated lands as a necessary step to ensure the serious investors and prevent stagnation. Moreover, he urged strict enforcement to safeguard public interest.

Al-Muharrami highlighted the urgent need to expedite technical and legal reforms within the Authority, safeguarding publicly owned lands and properties, enforcing investment laws without exception, and implementing the recommendations issued by oversight bodies, stressing that transparency and anti-corruption measures start with institutional discipline and strict adherence to procedures.

For his part, the head of the authority, Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, praised the efforts of the STC Deputy President and Vice Chairman of the PLC, Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami, and his ongoing support for the authority's development plans, expressing his appreciation for the direct oversight and follow-up he carries out to ensure the proper functioning of the workflow and promote the effectiveness of the reforms.
