The Human Rights Department of the Southern Transitional Council on Monday organized a seminar in Aden the capital on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights under the slogan "Let us all stand for equality, justice and human dignity.

At the opening, Fadhl Al-Jaadi, the Acting Secretary-General of the Southern Transitional Council, delivered a speech in which he said: "Today we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We do not want to discuss the world. We want focus on our country and the united nation organization and its talk about human rights.

"They talk about human rights and they have prepared consultations in Sweden under the slogan of human rights and humanitarian support for the northern regions, or better say part of the north, but the truth is exactly the opposite - they raise the banner of human rights and do not implement it" Al-Jaadi said.

Al-Ja'adi added: "Today we say that we have the right to celebrate human rights and we have the right to defend our rights to restore our state no matter what it takes. At the same time, we must respect the rights of others and we must respect the rights of the minorities, such as displaced or refugees in our country, we must respect them and give everyone their rights.

Al-Jaadi hoped that the seminar would produce outputs that truly defend the human rights and humanity.

Niran Souki, member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, said that in view of the importance of human rights, the Southern Transitional Council has paid great attention to this aspect by monitoring violations and preparing files on violated human rights in the south and communicated with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva to deliver our voice to the international community.

She added:" Since the Human Rights Commission has received our memorandum of violations, they sent a special delegate to check the documents and the registered violations that the Human Rights Department of the Southern Transitional Council monitored and documented."

The head of the Human Rights Department at the Transitional Council, Zikra Matook welcomed the large attendance, which reflects the community's concern for human rights and the attention to it.

She added: "Human rights include the right to life, education, freedom and other rights. Unfortunately, there have been many violations against humanity in recent times, and we must all stand together to protect human rights".

Osama Hussein, the Acting head of the Department of Martyrs and wounded in the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council, said that his department has a large database of martyrs and wounded from most areas of the south since 1994 until today.

"We are ready to receive any file and receive any information for any martyr or war wounded with document about what happened to him," he said.
