The STC Statement on Security, Military and Political Developments in Hadhramaut Valley
The Southern Transitional Council (STC) is closely monitoring the security, military, and political...
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The political parties, components, and forces of the South, while following with a high national sense of responsibility the accelerated political and military developments in the South in this pivotal phase of its history—which have led to the liberation of what has remained of Shabwa, the Valley and Desert of Hadramaut, and Al-Mahra Governorate, thereby ending three decades of forced occupation and grave violations involving the killing, repression, torture, and deprivation of freedom of our people of the South in general, and the people of Hadramaut and Al-Mahra in particular—imposed by a coercive authority that entrenched the practice of occupation in its ugliest forms and manifestations.
And proceeding from our steadfast and firm commitment to the Southern National Project, to our people's right to restore their state, identity, and full sovereignty over their land within its internationally recognized borders until May 21, 1990, and by virtue of what is contained in the Southern National Charter (SNC), which we have all agreed upon and ratified, we reaffirm the following:
1. We reaffirm our adherence to the legitimate right of our Southern people, embodying the will of the people of the South, to restore and build their independent, fully sovereign state, and we demand the official declaration of the Federal State of the South as the political and legal expression of the collective will of the people of the South and an extension of their decades-long struggles and ultimate sacrifices.
2. We declare our steadfast and unconditional support for the Southern Armed Forces to protect and secure the South. We reaffirm that they represent the safety valve of the nation and the protector of its national project, as well as a belt of security and stability for neighboring countries and the entire region. We stress the necessity of completing the liberation of Mukayras and extending the full control over all the Southern homeland without exception, considering this a sovereign right not subject to procrastination or compromise.
3. We reiterate our full standing alongside the sovereignty of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, and call for coalescing behind his wise leadership to accomplish the aspirations of our people and achieve their national goals of liberation and independence.
4. We assert that the current stage requires the highest levels of internal cohesiveness and strengthening the partnership among the various Southern forces and components and all segments of Southern society under the umbrella of the Southern National Charter. This would fortify the internal front, reinforce the inclusive national identity of the South, respect and preserve the specificity of each governorate, and create the required conditions for achieving the second independence and restoring and building the state.
5. The political parties and components express their concern regarding the humanitarian, political, and military situation in the North and affirm their full support for all efforts aimed at liberating the North from the terrorist Houthi militias, whether through peaceful solutions or the military options determined by our brothers, the people of the North. We confirm that the South is now protected and secure from the tools of failure, betrayal, conspiracy, and the sponsorship of terrorism and extremism, which were a major source supplying the terrorist Houthi militias with the elements of strength and sustenance.
6. The political parties and components in the South express the gratitude and appreciation of our people to the brothers in the Arab Coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for their pivotal roles in supporting our people's liberation from the terrorist Houthi militias, supporting counter-terrorism and extremism efforts, and providing humanitarian and economic support to our people. We affirm that our people will record these stances in the brightest pages of history and will preserve this fraternal role for generations to come.
7. We call on the brothers in the Arab Coalition, regional countries, and international partners to respect the sterling will of the people of the South and their right to restore their independence and build their state, and to engage with their political leadership as the political representative of the people of the South and the primary contributor to stability and security in the region.
In conclusion, the signatories to this statement renew their firm pledge to the people of the South to proceed steadfastly towards achieving their legitimate aspirations, not to retreat from the choice of an independent state of the South, and to safeguard the sacrifices of the blessed martyrs, the wounded, and the heroes who granted this project its sanctity and strength.
