The STC Statement on Security, Military and Political Developments in Hadhramaut Valley

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) is closely monitoring the security, military, and political developments in the Valley of Hadhramaut and confirms that the "Promising Future" operation launched today, Wednesday, follows the exhaustion of all options proposed in recent years to restore stability to the Valley, end the state of security breakdown, and halt the exploitation of the region by forces alien to the Valley and governorate.

Over the past years, areas of the Valley have been transformed into a platform for smuggling operations benefiting the terrorist Houthi militias and into hotbeds for the activities of extremist organisations such as ISIS and al-Qaeda, which has led to the continued bloodshed of the people of the South and the targeting of our brothers in the Arab Coalition forces.

Given this reality, we state unequivocally that the South will never be a corridor for threatening regional security, a haven for terrorism or a logistical lifeline for the terrorist Houthi militias.

While reaffirming its firm commitment to upholding the goals of the Arab Coalition and to regional security and stability, the STC confirms that the forces removed today had, regrettably, been the lifeline through which the Houthis, the Muslim Brotherhood, and other terrorist organisations breathed, exploiting their positions for influence and profit, far from the interest of the country and its citizens.

The STC notes that the directives of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi stipulate the following:

· Declaration of a general amnesty for anyone who commits to ceasing any hostile or sabotage activities, with the exception of those proven implicated in crimes involving bloodshed, terrorism, or grave violations of civilians' rights.

· Providing urgent care to the wounded, full medical attention, and the immediate release of all detainees.

· Preservation and commitment to protecting civilians and securing public and private property, and any individual transgression will be dealt with firmly according to the law.

The STC calls on civilian and military personnel with families to remain in their homes during the coming hours, for their safety, until security is restored and normalcy returns.

The STC also notes the availability of a dedicated emergency hotline to receive reports from anyone who has been subjected to assault, harassment, or violation or has an urgent problem:

Hadhramaut has been, and will definitely remain, a cornerstone of the Southern state project and will not accept its continued captivity to projects of terrorism, domination, or smuggling. We reassure our people of the South that security will return and that the Valley is moving towards a new era of tranquillity, stability, and development.

May Allah grant success.
