Southern Transitional Council Welcomes U.S. President Donald Trump’s Decision to Designate the Houthi Group as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization”

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) welcomes the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to designate the Houthi group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization—a decisive step that reflects a strong American and international commitment to countering the terrorist Houthi militia, limiting its military capabilities and economic resources, preventing its hostile activities against global trade and maritime navigation, and alleviating the suffering of civilians.

The terrorist Houthi militias and their backers in Tehran have demonstrated that they only understand the language of deterrence and concrete actions. Therefore, President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council and Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, is intensifying his efforts to set out with regional and international forums for the establishment of a comprehensive strategy to eliminate the terrorism practiced by the Houthi militias in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, to put an end to civilian suffering, and to bring an end to the conflict in the country.

President Trump’s decision to designate the Houthi group as a Foreign Terrorist Organization is a significant step that requires collective efforts and coordinated action at all political, economic, and military levels. The Southern Transitional Council reaffirms its readiness to work alongside our regional partners and international allies to deter the threats posed by Houthi terrorism in the Red Sea. This will help pave the way for restoring security and stability in our country and the region, as well as creating the necessary conditions for a comprehensive and just political process.
