STC Political Commission Urges Government to Assume Responsibility for Deterioration of Local Currency Exchange Rates

The Political Commission (PC) assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by Dr. Khaled Ba-Madhaf, deputy head of the PC.

In the meeting, the PC reviewed the latest political developments on the Southern national arena, as well as regional and international events that are impacting the political situation in the South.

The PC listened to a detailed report on the military and security situation from the head of the Moral Guidance Division of the Southern Ground Forces, Brigadier General Fadl Maabad, who discussed the overall military situation in various border battlefronts against the Houthi terrorist militia.

Separately, the PC congratulated the people of the South on the 61st anniversary of the Glorious 14th of October Revolution, hailing the grand success of the rally, themed "Identity of the South," a million-person celebrative event held in the city of Seiyun, Hadramaut Governorate, and across all  governorates of the South.

Similarly, the PC emphasized the significance of this historic occasion in strengthening the national spirit and adherence to the national identity of the South, noting that the success of this event reflects the solidarity and cohesiveness of the people of the South in the journey towards achieving their goals.

During its meeting, the PC reviewed the developments of the economic situation, including the collapse of the local currency, which poses a serious threat to the living standards in the South. In this context, the commission called on the government to assume its full responsibility for this unfortunate deterioration, emphasizing the need to take urgent measures to stop this decline and address the economic crisis that is directly affecting the lives of citizens.

Furthermore, the commission reiterated its welcome of the diplomatic efforts of brotherly and friendly countries in their readiness to reopen consulates and embassies in the historic capital, Aden, considering the Russian Federation a model to be emulated in this context.

The PC reaffirmed that these steps underscore Aden's significance as a political and diplomatic hub, contributing to the strengthening of international relations and providing support to the people of the South in their political and economic endeavors.

At the end of its meeting, the PC reviewed a range of topics on its agenda, approved the previous minutes, and would submit its suggestions and recommendations.
