Al-Awlaqi Receives Correspondent of CBC TV Azerbaijan International

Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and the official spokesman of the STC, received today, Thursday, Mr. Ruslan Suleimanov, a correspondent for CBC International Azerbaijan.

In the meeting, Mr. Al-Awlaqi welcomed the channel's correspondent upon his visit to the capital, Aden, to produce a documentary film highlighting the political, economic, and humanitarian conditions in the country. He asserted that they are keen to ensure the success of visits by international media delegations, considering it a positive indicator of the city's security, stability, and improved conditions despite the prevailing conflict, and expressed hope that international media outlets would convey this message with complete transparency.

Al-Awlaqi further emphasized that it is imperative for international media outlets to highlight the escalating threat posed by the Houthi militia, which has transcended local and domestic concerns to become a regional and international security issue. He specifically cited the militia's acts of piracy in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea as a direct threat to international maritime navigation and its detrimental impact on the local, regional, and global economies.

Turning to the political landscape, Mr. Al-Awlaqi asserted that the people of the South, on the cusp of a new political process, have a just cause following the failure of the peaceful unification project and the military invasion of the South in 1994. Therefore, he stressed the need for the inclusion of the cause of the South within the peace negotiations to ensure a lasting, just, and honorable peace.

For his part, the channel's correspondent, Mr. Suleimanov, thanked the warm welcome and facilitation of his media mission, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to objectively report on the situation, convey accurate information, and showcase the civil, cultural, and historical aspects of Aden and other cities.
