STC Political Commission Rejects Fragmenting Files of the Political Process Unless Cause of People of the South is Included

The political commission (PC) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held on Sunday in the capital, Aden, its periodic meeting as part of the regular bi-monthly sessions for June 2024, reviewed key developments in the political process related to the cause of the People of the South, chaired by Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the PC and Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit of the STC.

The PC examined a monitoring and follow-up report submitted by the Monitoring and Follow-up Section, which covered the latest developments in domestic and foreign affairs.

The PC listens to a military and security briefing presented by Brigadier General Fadl Maabad, Head of the Moral Guidance Department of the Southern Armed Forces, providing an overview of the general military situation across the various battlefronts against the Houthi terrorist militia.

The PC then shifted its focus to the deteriorating economic conditions in the country, highlighting the need for the government to assume its responsibility for halting the decline in the value of the local currency and stressing the urgency of implementing immediate measures to improve the service sector and activate revenue-generating and productive facilities.

The Commission discussed the recent political developments, the efforts of the UN special envoy regarding the roadmap, and the ongoing negotiations in Muscat. The body reiterated its firm rejection of piecemeal approaches to the political process.

The Body emphasized its refusal to participate in any negotiations unless the cause of the People of the South remains the central focus of the political process and fully meets their aspirations, reiterating their stance that any dialogue or negotiation must develop a special framework to address the cause of the South and reaffirming that no viable solutions or peace can be achieved without the full inclusion of the cause of the South throughout all stages of dialogue and negotiation.

At the end of its meeting, the PC reviewed a range of topics on its agenda, approved the previous minutes, and submitted its proposals and recommendations.
