NSMA Head Receives Delegation of UN Envoy Office in the Capital, Aden

 

Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), and official Spokesman of the STC, met today, Monday, at the headquarters of NSMA with a delegation from the UN Special Envoy Office in the capital, Aden, including Mr. Edward Jackson, Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy in Aden, Ms. Mai Al-Sheikh, Head of Media and Strategic Communication, Mr. Brett Scott, Political Affairs Officer, and Ms. Ithar Al-Shaibani, Communication Officer.

During the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe'y, deputy head of NSMA, Mr. Al-Awlaqi highlighted the importance of continued and constructive communication with the Office of the UN Special Envoy in the capital, Aden, to support the efforts and endeavors of the UN envoy to bring about just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace.

Al-Awlaqi called on the Office of the UN Envoy in the capital, Aden, to expand its circle of communication with all bodies of the STC.

Al-Awlaqi also reiterated that NSMA is keen on promoting press and media freedoms in Aden and the various governorates of the South, noting that NSNA has been holding regular meetings with media, journalistic, and academic elites from different orientations, as well as with correspondents of Arab and international agencies, channels, and newspapers operating in Aden and with media office directors in the South to exchange views and ideas on various topics and issues, creating partnerships and work on commonalities with various spectrums, indicating that the capital, Aden, has become the role model today in terms of press, media, and human rights freedoms despite the war that has been going on for nine years.

In turn, the delegation expressed the thanks and appreciation of the Office of the UN Special Envoy for the cooperation of NSMA in easing the media tasks they perform, expressing hope for further coordination and joint cooperation.
