STC Political Commission Highlights Curbing Houthi Terrorism to Avoid Disasters in Red Sea and al-Mandeb Strait

The Political Commission (PC), assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), held its regularly scheduled meeting for the second half of February 2024 on Thursday in the capital, Aden, chaired by Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the PC and Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit (NAU).

The PC reviewed a report on the local, regional, and international political scene, including the most prominent developments in both internal and external conditions, as well as the military scene report submitted by Brigadier General Fadhl Maabad, Head of the Moral Guidance Division of the Southern Armed Forces, to review the general military situation on the various border fighting fronts adjacent to the terrorist Houthi militia.

In the context of its meeting, the PC discussed the economic and living conditions and the crises that the governorates of the South are going through, which have been exacerbated by the maritime navigation crisis in the Red Sea caused by the terrorist attacks of the Houthi militia, calling on the regional and international community to take serious action to curb the arrogance of this terrorist militia.

Furthermore, the PC reiterated the firm position of the STC in support of the Palestinian issue, its rejection of the Israeli aggression on the occupied territories of Palestine, and its support for the Arab project regarding the two-state solution on the 1967 borders, denouncing the Houthis’ malicious exploitation of the issue.

The PC confirmed that the continued terrorist attacks conducted by the Houthi militia in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait on cargo ships and those carrying humanitarian aid coming to the ports of the South will have dire consequences that exacerbate the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis that the people of the South are experiencing.

The PC also discussed a range of topics on its agenda and took appropriate decisions and recommendations in that regard.
