Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, the deputy director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met on Monday morning with Mr. Edward Jackson, office head of the UN Special Envoy in the capital, Aden, and the team of the political section in their office in Aden.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Al-Sharafi offered his heartfelt condolences to all international humanitarian and political teams working in Yemen over the tragic loss of Mr. Muayad Hamidi, the program director of the UN World Food Program in Taiz, by a treacherous terrorist attack.
Al-Sharafi stated that as a result of this cowardly terrorist act, we have lost one of the pillars of humanitarian work in the UN, who has distinctive marks in the service of humanity in Yemen and many other countries.
The two sides discussed the arrangements for the comprehensive political process and the endeavors led by the office of the UN Special Envoy, Mr. Hans Grundberg, to reach a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace, as well as related issues, with a focus on the cause of the people of the South and the relevant mechanisms for resolving it through the comprehensive political process.
In this regard, Al-Sharafi highlighted that the cause of the people of the South represents a fundamental pillar for ending the crisis and bringing peace to the entire region, and that this comes through putting a special negotiating framework for it within the framework of the ceasefire agreement.
During the meeting, Al-Sharafi reviewed the deteriorating economic and service conditions in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South, calling on the international community to perform its role and to take a decisive action to cease the Houthi terrorist militia attacks, mobilization operations, and the continued targeting of economic and civilian facilities in the South.
