Ministerial Bloc of the STC Issues Joint Comment on the EU Statement Supported Unilaterally by Government

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

The ministerial bloc of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) followed with great concern what was alluded to in the statement issued by the Council of the European Union (EU) on Monday, December 12, 2022, and the government supported the statement without consensus or deliberation. While the bloc articulated its respect and appreciation for the Council of the EU, it also expressed its regret for the negative indications about the rumoured discrepancies within the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the non-positive allusion to the role of the representative of the people of the South, the STC.

We reaffirm here that the ministerial bloc of the STC and its supporters among the southern ministers have been keen, since the first day of forming the power-sharing government, to maintain harmony and coherence within the government with a teamwork spirit to preserve security, stability, and the flow of services despite all difficulties and obstacles.

We see that the issuance of a statement in this style was not as we had hoped and regret that there are certain parties that exploited their relations and the granted trust to present misinformation that serves neither the fundamental partnership in the power-sharing government as per the Riyadh agreement nor the consensus that was concluded by the Riyadh Consultations under the auspices of the Cooperation Council for the States of the Arab Gulf, which clearly affirmed the legitimacy and justice of the southern cause and the right of the people of the South to restore their state with full sovereignty within the borders known before May 22, 1990.
