The National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) strongly condemns the horrifying murdering of the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, correspondent of Al-Jazeera channel, and injurying her colleague, the journalist Ali Al-Samudi during their coverage near Jenin Camp, on Wednesday morning, in the Palestinian occupied territories.

This criminal act is not noly a blatant breach of the international norms and human rights but also a flagrant infringement on the freedom of media and press, and an assassination of the free speech, and any attempt to justify it by Israeli forces is another more horrible crime.

NSMA, in condemning the murder of the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, calls for a comprehensive international investigation that leads to prosecutedly bring responsible criminals to the international justice.

NSMA also calls on the United Nations, the International Community, and international bodies competent to defend freedom of the press to take firm measures to protect journalists working in conflict areas and conducively enabling them performing their tasks in a total freedom.
