President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), conducted an inspection visit on Monday to review the workflow and performance at the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology (MCIT) and its various sectors as part of his Excellency's review of the institutional readiness of ministries and service institutions.
Upon arrival at the ministry's main building, President Al-Zubaidi was received by the Acting Minister of MCIT, who is also the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Wa'ed Badhib, along with Eng. Wael Tarmoum, Chairman of the Public Telecommunications Corporation; Eng. Abdulsalam Al-Salafi, CEO of "TeleYemen"; and Eng. Mansour Al-Walidi, CEO of "AdenNet."
During the visit, President Al-Zubaidi chaired a meeting with the ministry's leadership and senior executive directors of its affiliated sectors and stressed the necessity of redoubling efforts to develop the ministry's institutional structure, upgrade its infrastructure, and elevate the level of services provided, in line with the rapid advancement in the fields of telecommunications and IT. His Excellency highlighted that the communications sector is a fundamental pillar and a main artery in overall development.
Furthermore, the President was briefed by the ministry's leadership on the progress level of several projects implemented in the telecommunications sector and listened to a detailed briefing of the ministry's plans aimed at developing the sector and encouraging investment within it, alongside the challenges and difficulties facing the implementation of the strategic plan.
At the conclusion of the visit, President Al-Zubaidi concluded the visit by emphasizing the importance of building the capacities of the technical and administrative staff within the ministry's institutions and stressed the necessity of injecting new blood into its sectors and qualifying its employees to contribute to enhancing performance efficiency and ensuring the sustainability of institutional development.
