STC Assembly Reviews Preparations for Hadhramaut Coast Liberation Anniversary

The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly and Acting President of the STC.

At the beginning of its meeting, which was attended by Mr. Essam Abdo Ali, deputy chairman of the Assembly, the administrative body focused on key issues in the South; top among them were the ongoing preparations to mark the ninth anniversary of the liberation of Hadhramaut’s Coast from terrorist groups in the city of Al-Mukalla on April 24. The event, themed "Hadhramaut… First," was called for by the local leadership executive body of the STC in the governorate and reviewed completed tasks to ensure the commemoration reflects the pivotal role and immense sacrifices made by Hadhrami Elite Force (HEFs) in securing stability and restoring peace to the governorate.

The body lauded the critical role of the HEFs in maintaining security and stability across the governorate, particularly along the Hadhramaut Coast, highlighted that their achievements stand as one of the most significant national successes over the past period, crediting their efficiency, unmatched discipline, and high readiness, and stressed the need to bolster support for these forces, ensuring they are fully well-equipped to counter any threats to the governorate's hard-won security or social cohesiveness.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Kathiri, in his remarks, issued a stark warning against ongoing efforts to abort the national project of the South—the just cause for which the STC was founded with popular mandate—through systematic attempts to sow chaos and undermine security in Hadhramaut’s coastal areas, aiming at stripping the governorate of its Southern entirety and broader ties of the South.

In his remarks, Al-Kathiri declared that Hadhramaut has always been—and will definitely remain—the backbone of the South, and verily there can be no South without Hadhramaut, and issued an uncompromising warning, asserting, "There will be zero tolerance against any futile attempt to undermine stability and harmony in Hadhramaut."

The body then examined two reports: one from the Foreign Affairs Committee and another from the Education Committee focusing on public education quality. The education report highlighted severe challenges plaguing the public education process, including widespread closures of government-run schools and ongoing teacher strikes that have significantly impacted pupils, and both reports were approved after discussing members' feedback and raised remarks.
