President Al-Zubaidi Lauds South Korea’s Humanitarian Interventions in Alleviating Our People's Suffering

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), lauded the exceptional bilateral relations with the Republic of Korea, affirmed the PLC's keenness to expand the prospects of cooperation with Seoul across a range of fields, and made the remarks during a meeting on Sunday evening in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with South Korea’s Ambassador to Yemen, His Excellency Do Bong-Kae.

During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi expressed deep appreciation for South Korea’s humanitarian assistance, highlighting its vital role in alleviating the suffering of our people amidst the severe economic conditions caused by the Houthi-ignited war, and noted the importance of South Korean-led initiatives, particularly those focused on empowering women and improving livelihoods.

The President expressly commended the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for its pioneering humanitarian efforts, particularly its support for emergency humanitarian response and sustainable development initiatives in sectors such as water, health, and education, stating that these efforts serve as a model of constructive humanitarian cooperation that fosters stability.

President Al-Zubaidi also expressed his aspiration to strengthen South Korea’s support in capacity-building programs, professional training, and qualifying youth working across public service institutions to promote institutional performance and better serve our citizens.

For his part, the South Korean ambassador reaffirmed his government's firm backing for all efforts to restore Yemen’s security and stability, affirming Seoul’s commitment to bolstering support for our people in humanitarian and development sectors.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, a member of the STC's Presidium and Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission (CRC) supporting the PLC; Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission assisting the Presidium of the STC; Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, Mr. Imad Mohammed, office director of the Vice President of the PLC; and Mr. Saleh Al-Quaiti, Advisor to the Vice President of the PLC.
