President Al-Zubaidi Chairs Hadhramaut Executive Office Meeting

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), chaired on Sunday a meeting of the Executive Office of Hadhramaut Governorate, in the presence of the governor of Hadhramaut, Mr. Mabkhout Mubarak Bin Madi, and several ministers in the government.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi reiterated the strategic importance of Hadramaut Governorate as a key pillar in the national scene, due to its distinguished geographical location, enormous economic potential, and influential people, reaffirming that the governorate's conditions receive constant follow-up and it has a priority from the PLC, which took the initiative to form a dedicated committee to consider its challenges in detail and to identify the legitimate demands of the people of the governorate, with the aim of finding urgent solutions that alleviate the suffering of citizens and maintain the stability and security of Hadramaut.

The president underscored the critical need for cohesiveness and teamwork spirit among all relevant authorities to navigate through this challenging phase, highlighting that the PLC would spare no effort in backing initiatives to ensure stability and drive development in the governorate.

President Al-Zubaidi acknowledged the overall severe economic challenges facing the country and difficulties confronting local authority in Hadramout. However, these conditions do not absolve local leaders of their responsibility to safeguard the governorate’s security and stability from their duty to provide basic services to citizens within available resources.

The President emphasized that Hadramout’s security and stability are a shared responsibility, and there will be a zero tolerance against whoever attempts to undermine public tranquility, jeopardize security and stability, or sabotage state institutions and would be decisively confronted with full force to ensure the preservation of law and order.

President Al-Zubaidi stressed the urgent need for resolute decisions within Hadramout governorate that prioritize the interests of its people above all interests, and the current phase demands bold actions to radically address existing challenges, urging local leaders to act without any ulterior motives.

President Al-Zubaidi concluded the meeting by reaffirming that the PLC will stand firmly behind all efforts serving the interests of Hadramout’s people and provide every form of support to help the governorate overcome its challenges and reclaim its pivotal role in driving development and stability.

Governor Bin Madi opened the meeting by delivering a detailed report on the overall conditions in the governorate, explaining the scale of challenges hindering development and stability, especially amid the halted oil exports, which have had direct repercussions on service and economic sectors.

The governor pointed out that the oil export suspension has crippled public finances, directly undermining the local authority’s ability to deliver basic services, pay salaries, and fund critical development projects, affirming that the situation has triggered a choking crisis, casting a shadow over daily life across the governorate.

The governor outlined details of the ongoing crisis in Hadramout and the logical mounting demands that are escalating until they directly and negatively impact citizens. He explained that the local authority launched multiple initiatives to mitigate the crisis and pursue practical solutions, but all were met with rejection, which exacerbated the situation and left the governorate in its current precarious state.

The meeting focused on urgent challenges in Hadramout governorate, with attending ministers and senior local officials in the local authority agreeing to immediate and actionable measures to appropriately be implemented in that regard.
