STC Secretariat Hosts Ramadan Event to Mark International Women’s Day

The Women and Children’s Department of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) organized a Ramadan evening on Saturday in celebration of International Women's Day celebrated globally on March 8. The event was held under the patronage of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC.

During the event, Ms. Yasmin Musaid Humaid, head of the Department of Women and Children, delivered a speech welcoming the attendees. She conveyed greetings from President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and expressed the Council’s appreciation and respect for women of the South who have upheld their roles in the unrelenting struggle and contributed to shaping the history of the South. She stated, "Today, we recall every moment of struggle endured by the women of the South and every tear shed in grief for a martyr who sacrificed for his Southern homeland. The women of the South have borne the pains of the homeland and walked a path that leads us to a bright future."

Humaid emphasized that the rights of women of the South will not remain mere slogans but will become a tangible reality through which women are empowered, their participation enhanced, and their rights secured. This stems from a firm belief in building a more just and secure society. She noted that women possess the determination to restore the state of the South and called on international decision-makers to grant the people of the South their right to restore their state and to empower them by all means to combat terrorism and extremism, thereby achieving security and stability in the entire region.

In concluding her remarks, Humaid called on international organizations to shoulder their humanitarian responsibilities and take a serious stance to protect the women of the Yemeni Arab Republic from the violations they face at the hands of the Houthi militias. She stressed that the international community is obligated to fulfill its role in addressing these abuses. At the same time, she pointed out that women of the South have suffered greatly from the policies of the Sana'a regime in the past, necessitating international action to ensure justice and equity.

The event-themed "Women of the South: Inspiration, Giving, and Sacrifice" took place at the headquarters of the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the STC in the capital, Aden, in coordination with the Administration of Women and Children of the STC’s Executive Body in the capital.
