President Aidarous Qasim Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), inaugurated on Sunday the work of the sixth session of the National Assembly of the STC, in Hadramout governorate, under the slogan "To strengthen partnership with political and societal forces and national figureheads to restore and build the federal and independent state of the South." In the presence of his two vice presidents, Major General Faraj al-Buhsni, Vice Chairman of the PLC, and Major General Ahmed bin Brik, Chairman of the National Assembly.
At the beginning of the inauguration, which was attended by a number of members of the STC's Presidium, heads of auxiliary authorities, military commanders, and community personalities and leaders, President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi delivered a speech welcoming all those present, extending his greetings to the people of the Coast and Valley of Hadramout in particular and all the people of the South both at home and abroad in general, expressing his happiness to participate in the inauguration of the activities of the sixth session and his confidence that it will be a milestone and an extension of the achievement of the Southern Consultative Meeting, which was made by the people of the South.
During the inauguration, President Al-Zubaidi indicated the exceptional importance of the sixth session because it coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of the STC, which makes this occasion a starting point for a new phase that embodies the principle of partnership and efficiency, indicating the national task to shape the features of the future of the modern federal state of the South that guarantees the rights of each one with no exception or exclusion, hoping that the session will achieve a development in line with the performance of the Assembly and its role as a legislative institution of the STC, which takes upon its shoulders the cause of the people of the South.
President Al-Zubaidi underscored implementing the results of the consultative meeting, foremost of which are the foundations and principles of the National Charter, and to move forward in fulfilling the rights of the people of the South in terms of strengthening internal front, modernization, and institutional work of the STC, and the constant keenness from the start to adopt the principle of dialogue and strengthen the unity of the southern ranks, praising in the endurance and patience of the people of the South against all suffering and the challenges that will be overcome, appreciating the major role being performed by the southern armed forces in protecting the country and its citizens and wishing all success to the session and hoping to come out with results that strengthen the cohesiveness of the South and contribute to build its state.
Mr. Saleh Khaled Al-Yazidi, a member of the National Assembly, also spoke in behalf of people with special needs, in which he expressed his happiness with this exceptional event, offering congratulations and blessings to the political leadership represented by President Aidarous al-Zubaidi, and all the people of the South for the grand success of the southern consultative meeting and for the decrees that accompanied its success, and he urged them to line up and be behind the leadership and strengthen the southern cohesiveness, calling for the inclusion of people with special needs in the various authorities, institutions, and bodies who will definitely constitute a qualitative addition to the STC.
The sixth session of the National Assembly, which was inaugurated with verses from the Holy Quran, was followed by the national anthem of the South, stood for a minute to tributedly read Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs of the South, included reading poems and folk dances, and displayed a documentary film entitled "The South from Revolution to the State," which included scenes from the steps of the people of the South in the way of fulfilling their aspirations and acquired the approbation of all. Noteworthy, on the first day of the session’s work, during the closed session of the members, a range of documents and lists were passed out and discussed, on which remarks will be dictated and raised during the session’s work and then approved.
