President Aidarous Qasim Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met today with H.E. Ahmed Farouk, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Yemen.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President welcomed the Egyptian Ambassador and conveyed his congratulations on behalf of the people of the South to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Egyptian government, and the brotherly Egyptian people on the occasion of the anniversary of Victory Day on October 10th Ramadan. The President also expressed his sincere wishes to Egypt and its people for further progress and prosperity.
The meeting discussed the latest political and economic developments in our country, as well as regional and international efforts to end the war and bring peace to the country through a comprehensive political process that includes all parties to ensure a just and sustainable solution to all issues, including the cause of the people of the South.
The meeting also focused on the recent measures taken by the Egyptian authorities regarding travel procedures, and the possible measures that the Egyptian government may take in the future to facilitate the entry of Yemeni citizens and accomplish their purposes as per law and order.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi praised Egypt's firm positions with our people throughout history, affirming that Egypt has been and will remain the main destination for southern people and Yemenis in general, especially as it is a state that has opened its doors to millions of our people who have sought refuge from the ravages of war or for treatment or study.
For his part, the Egyptian ambassador affirmed Egypt's steadfast position with our people and support for all efforts made by the PLC and the power-sharing government in leading the country towards peace and stability, reiterating Egypt's support for efforts to end the war and bring peace through a comprehensive political process that includes all parties.
He also emphasized Egypt's keenness to provide all facilities for Yemenis who intend to stay in Egypt or receive medical care or study there, affirming that the measures taken by Egyptian authorities regarding travel and residency regulations in Egypt included several Arab and foreign nationalities with no relation to any other considerations.
