President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), held on Sunday evening an expanded meeting with the heads and members of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the STC at the headquarters of the Secretariat in the capital, Aden.
Initially, President Al-Zubaidi expressed his happiness at this meeting, giving a brief presentation of the results of his foreign tour and the series of meetings he held with the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and the countries sponsoring the political process, in addition to the latest developments regarding the comprehensive political process and international endeavors to bring about an end to the war and achieve peace.
President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of redoubling efforts and trying harder to achieve distinguished political action since the STC has become a real force on the ground that cannot be overlooked.
In the context of his speech, the president touched on the issue of restructuring the STC, indicating that the aim is to raise and develop the effectiveness of the Council's work through renewal, inject young blood, and raise the efficiency of the staff to face any upcoming challenges that may confront the South and its just cause in all fields.
The president said that there are new southern components that will be absorbed into the structure after their previous engagement in the Southern National Dialogue, reaffirming that the STC is not a political party but rather an entity inclusive of all southerners and that it will absorb as much as it can from the southerners regardless of their various orientations.
After that, President Al-Zubaidi listened to a range of remarks raised by heads of departments and staff of the secretariat about the STC's work during the past period and possible suggestions to develop and boost the work of the STC, further to certain enquiries regarding developments related to the cause of the people of the South, and replied to them.
Mr. Fadhl Mohammed Al-Gaadi, deputy secretary general, opened the meeting with a speech in which he welcomed the presence of President Al-Zubaidi to the headquarters of the General Secretariat and his keenness to meet and listen to the heads and members of the Secretariat.
