The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, the Secretary General of the Presidium of the STC, and Governor of the Capital, Aden.
At the beginning of its meeting, the Presidium emphasized the depth of historical relations between the South and the Russian Federation, praising the understandings reached by the visit of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi and his accompanying delegation to Moscow, the Russian capital, to strengthen relations with states of global decision-making to obtain support and promote the demands of the people of the South and their just cause.
In another context, the Presidium discussed the latest developments in the national landscape, foremost of which is the economic situation, and the need for the government to direct its work to regulate the available resources and address the service aspect, especially electricity, before the advent of the summer season and to maintain stable-supply status by importing petroleum-based products and allocating fuel for power plants operating with diesel and mazout, to ensure sufficiency of the provided quantities and make sure of the continuous operation of the power plants without cutting off the electricity supply.
Furthermore, the Presidium stressed the importance of facilitating the work of the Supreme Committee for Financial Resources, formed by the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), ensuring the supply of fund revenues from all governorates to the Central Bank in Aden, stopping disbursing any amounts of revenues to areas under the control of the Houthi militia at the expense of services in the governorates that control and collect these revenues, and preventing any disbursement transactions to other governorates that declined supplying their revenues for the benefit of the public budget. It also warned against the continuation of this unlawful action because of its severe harm to the stability of the economic situation.
The Presidium, too, discussed the report submitted by the Supreme Economic Committee (SEC), in addition to a range of topics and issues related to the work of the STC and its various bodies, and took the appropriate measures.
To the end of its meeting, the Presidium congratulated our people of the South, both at home and abroad, and the Arab and Islamic nations on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, asking Allah, the Almighty, to help each Muslim perform the duty of fasting and to return it to our people and our nation with blessings, happiness, and prosperity. May Allah accept your fast.
