STC Supreme Executive Leadership Explores Strategies to Boost Economic and Public Services Across All Governorates of the South

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) Supreme Executive Leadership held its regular meeting in the capital, Aden, on Thursday, chaired by STC President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi.

The meeting reviewed recent economic and service developments in the capital, Aden, and other governorates of the South. On this issue, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of coordinating efforts between local authorities and the Council’s bloc within ministries and government institutions to improve living conditions and basic services for citizens.

The meeting listened to a detailed briefing from the Minister of Electricity on strategic projects to address the long-standing energy crisis. This included the comprehensive "Master Plan" reform—backed by the World Bank and international partners—aimed at rehabilitating and sustainably developing the electricity sector in liberated governorates.

The meeting examined updates on the financial and banking sector through a briefing given by Dr. Ahmed bin Sankar, deputy head of the Economic and Service Commission, in which he outlined key challenges facing the sector and measures to accelerate relocating bank headquarters to the capital, Aden, while enhancing their capabilities to develop financial services and ensure stability of this crucial sector.

The meeting reviewed the challenges facing local authorities in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of Abyan, Lahj, and Dhale'a through briefings by the governors of the governorates, which included a presentation on the reality of public services, field and administrative difficulties, and ways to overcome them to improve performance and meet citizens' needs.

During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi issued directives to the governor of the capital, Aden, to start preparations for holding an economic conference in the capital, bringing together businessmen and investors to showcase investment opportunities and priority projects to kick-start the economy and achieve sustainable development.

The President also directed the minister of planning and international cooperation, Dr. Wa'ed Ba-Theeb, to start coordinating with international partners and the relevant ministries to prepare for the donor conference to be held in the coming days to secure support for infrastructure projects and economic development in the South.

The meeting came up with a number of recommendations that would enhance the efforts of the STC in the fields of administrative and economic reform and coordination between the various executive levels to serve the interests of citizens and keep pace with their aspirations for stability and development.

The meeting concluded with a series of recommendations aimed at bolstering the Transitional Council’s administrative and economic reform efforts, as well as enhancing coordination across execution levels—all with a clear focus on serving citizens’ interests and meeting their aspirations for stability and development.
