President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), chaired a meeting on Friday evening with the STC’s local leadership executive body (LLEB) in Almahra at the presidential palace in Al-Ghaydah, the downtown of the governorate.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi listened to a detailed briefing on the performance of the LLEB and its administrations, highlighting achievements that have been fulfilled and challenges faced by local bodies, and underscored the need to resolve challenges encountered by certain administrations, focusing on outlining measures to address these difficulties and ensure alignment with strategic goals to strengthen the STC’s presence and role in serving the governorate’s residents.
The president was also briefed on progress in restructuring efforts across the governorate and its districts, stressing the urgency of finalizing remaining steps to ensure the operational readiness of the council’s organizational framework in Almahra, highlighting that completing this process would bolster institutional work and empower local leadership to execute its duties with greater efficiency.
President Al-Zubaidi underscored the closer coordination with the local authorities in implementing programs and initiatives that directly address citizens’ needs and alleviate hardships, particularly amid the severe economic and living conditions gripping the country, reiterated that the STC places citizen welfare at the top of its priorities, and strives to bolster development efforts that deliver tangible benefits to local communities.
President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of politically empowering the local cadre of Almahra through integrating personnel from the governorate into government ministries and institutions to enable them to contribute directly to their governorate’s development and participate in the decision-making process, mentioning that the STC's political team had refined all observations related to this initiative to identify optimal solutions, underscoring a commitment to refining governance structures and ensuring effective representation of Almahra.
President Al-Zubaidi has further urged citizens of Almahra to prioritize political empowerment as a key goal, while holding education as a cornerstone for building the governorate’s future, underscoring the necessity of establishing a model secondary school for Almahra’s youth to ensure a distinguished educational environment aligned with their aspirations and creating a liaison office in the capital, Aden, to facilitate coordination and communication with the government ministries, institutions, and authorities, enabling efficient follow-up on their various affairs.
In turn, the LLEB headship reaffirmed its dedication to exerting maximum efforts in serving the governorate and its citizens and implementing programs and projects that touch their needs, and fostering a spirit of collective teamwork to strengthen the STC’s role in advancing governance and development priorities across the governorate.
The LLEB headship of the Al-Mahra commended President Al-Zubaidi’s unwavering support for the governorate’s citizens and his commitment to easing challenges impeding the executive body’s workflow to achieve its objectives, perform its duties, and deliver services with greater efficiency.
