Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and the official spokesman of the STC, met today, Wednesday, in his office with heads of media and cultural administrations in the Local Leadership Executive Bodies (LLEBs) of the STC in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South.
During the meeting, Mr. Al-Awlaqi discussed the importance of paying attention to journalists, writers, and young activists and providing them with facilities, support, and a suitable environment to deliver media content and discourse that serve the cause of the people of the South and focus on the vital issues affecting citizens.
Al-Awlaqi stressed the importance of intensifying efforts during this crucial phase, as political milestones approach amidst a focus on the political process and the challenges surrounding it. These challenges demand heightened vigilance and political and media attention, pointing to the pivotal role of the southern media in countering all forms of targeting of the South and the STC through rumors and lies propagated by the enemies of the South and its just cause.
He clarified that the media and cultural administrations in the governorates should adhere to and utilize the political and media directives and orientations of the STC to effectively communicate the STC's stance on various issues, particularly those related to the political process and current events.
For his part, Dr. Bassem Mansour Al-Haushabi, Head of the Media and Cultural Department in the General Secretariat of the STC, praised the role played by NSMA in caring for media professionals and journalists in the South and providing them with facilities that enhance their professional and objective journalistic performance.
Al-Awlaqi listened to the attendees' remarks, which dealt with issues related to the work of the LLEBs in the governorates of the South and the development of the forms and content of their performance in the media aspect.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Naqib, official spokesman of the Southern Armed Forces and Head of the Military Media Center, and Mr. Najib Muqbil, rapporteur of NSMA.
