STC Assembly Chairman: We stand with all efforts to empower women and are committed to strengthening the work of the GUWS


Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met today, Wednesday, with the leadership of the General Union of Women of the South (GUWS), headed by Ms. Nada Awbali, Head of the Union.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Kathiri listened to a detailed explanation from Ms. Awbali about the union's workflow, plans, and programs that the leadership of the GUWS is working on to contribute to raising the level and strengthening the position of women of the South to the best, in addition to challenges and obstacles that hinder the workflow and ways that would contribute to solving them.

Al-Kathiri affirmed the support of the National Assembly and its permanent committees for the GUWS, pointing to the importance of coordinating work between the union and the women's committee in the assembly, which contributes to restoring the leading role of women of the South and their empowerment in various fields.

For her part, the head of the GUWS expressed her appreciation for the STC's interest in the issues of women of the South, represented by President Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, and his keenness to empower them in various fields. She highlighted that the return of real momentum to the work of the union will lead to promoting women's participation in many different sectors and their contribution to shaping the features and future of the state of the South.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Zakia Bahashwan, Dr. Rana Al-Saruri, and Ms. Sawsn Nizar, members of the executive office of the GUWS.
