Al-Kathiri: We are keen to communicate with the free peoples of the world to advocate the cause of the people of the South

Mr. Ali Al Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met today, Sunday, with French political researcher Gérard Vespierre, Head of Le Monde Center for Political Studies.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Lutfi Shatara, Head of the Research and Decision Support Center (RDSC), Mr. Al-Kathiri warmly welcomed researcher Gerard and his visit to the capital, Aden, which represents an extension of the historical ties that have existed between France and the South.

During the meeting, Al-Kathiri elaborated on the role of the National Assembly, highlighting that it serves as a parliament of the South that addresses political, social, and economic issues in the southern arena and has adopted a number of significant decisions and recommendations during its consecutive sessions since its establishment in 2017.

Al-Kathiri re-affirmed that the National Assembly is keen to strengthen its relations and engage with various peoples and influential forces internationally and regionally to advocate for the cause of the people of the South and their right to restore and build their independent federal state, which was internationally recognized until May 21, 1990.

For his part, the French researcher asserted the justness of the cause of the people of the South and expressed his support for a solution that guarantees the people of the South the right to live in peace, security, and dignity on their land within its internationally recognized borders until 1990, praising the National Assembly's oversight and legislative role, as well as its efforts to develop performance and institutional work that positively impacts the reality in the South and achieves the aspirations of its people.

The meeting was attended by Brigadier General Ahmed Hassan, Head of the Security Department of the STC, and Mr. Nasr Harhara, Rapporteur of the National Assembly.
