STC's Legal and Human Rights Commission Holds Periodic Meeting and Approves Plans and Assignments

The legal and human rights commission (LHRC), assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), held its periodic meeting today, Thursday, in the capital, Aden, for the month of August, chaired by Dr. Sa'ad Mohammad Sa'ad, head of the LHRC.

Initially, they reviewed and approved the minutes of the previous meeting. Then a number of plans submitted by representatives of legal bodies in the General Secretariat and legal administrations in the local leadership executive bodies in the governorates were discussed, as well as taking into account raised remarks that contribute to improving its work, managing and executing future plans, and working to strengthen the role of the LHRC in enhancing the performance of legal representatives. Further to approving the rest of the assignments, including the meeting with Judge Qaher Mustafa Ali, the Attorney General.

During the meeting, the LHRC reviewed political developments from a legal perspective, most notably the right of the people of the South to take advantage of their resources. In this regard, a team of LHRC members was assigned to conduct a study on the legal aspects of this subject.

The meeting drew attention to the cyberattacks and electronic campaigns launched by news websites and social media, which require discussing such crimes in a more comprehensive way. Therefore, the LHRC tasked a team of its members to conduct a scientific study on this topic and come up with recommendations in coordination and cooperation with the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA).
