President Al-Zubaidi: Resolving South People's Cause Key of Ending Conflict

President  Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), received this evening, H.E. Steven Fagin, Ambassador of the United States of America to Yemen.

The meeting discussed developments in the political, economic and humanitarian situation in our country in light of the tireless efforts made by the regional and international countries to start a comprehensive political process to end the war and establish a just and sustainable peace in the entire region.

In this context, President Al-Zubaidi affirmed the readiness of the PLC to engage in peace efforts that led by the United Nations through the Council's negotiation team, and the need to develop a special framework for the cause of the people of the South in the upcoming political process as the key to a solution and a key to ending the conflict in the enrire region.

The meeting also dealt with a range of topics and issues related to the economic aspect and the efforts that exerted to prevent the deterioration of the humanitarian situation as a result of the continued cessation in oil exports. In this regard, President Al-Zubaidi discussed with the American ambassador ways to support the power-sharing government in promoting resources, reduce expenditures, and carry out real financial and administrative reforms that the citizen will touch, through grants importing trader through the ports under the control of the government, more facilities and putting an end to the arbitrary practices undertaken by the Houthi militia against  importing traders through the ports of the south.

For his part, the US ambassador reaffirmed his country's support for efforts to end the war and establish peace in our country through a comprehensive political process that includes various parties under the supervision of the United Nations, stressing at the same time the importance of the harmony of the PLC and the coherence of the power-sharing government, calling on the international community to play a greater role in supporting the PLC's efforts to re-export oil after the Houthi attacks on export ports in Shabwa and Hadramout.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Emad Mohammad, Director of the Office of the deputy chairman of  PLC, Mr. Saleh Al-Qaiti, representative of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs of the STC, and from the US Embassy Mr. Omar Al-Mashhadani, the political counsel in the embassy.
