President Al-Zubaidi Hails Role of SWU in Reviving Cultural Heritage of the South


President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met with the Southern Writers Union (SWU) leadership, led by Dr. Junaid Al-Junaid, on Sunday morning.

During the meeting, which was attended by Dr. Saleh Al-Fardi, Director of the External Relations Department, and Mr. Mohammad Basunbul, Director of the Financial Department of the Union, President Al-Zubaidi was briefed on the enlightening activities of the SWU.

President Al-Zubaidi lauded the exerted efforts in reviving the cultural heritage of the South and promoting the southern identity through the literary and cultural activities and events implemented by the Union and the regularly-based literary publications. In this regard, the President reiterated his support for the leadership of the SWU to be able to boost its enlightenment activities and presence in the cultural community.

The President stressed the importance of coordination with literary, cultural, and media bodies in all governorates of the South in a way that would promote the southern cultural and literary movement that has been subjected to systematic destruction over three decades.

In their turn, Dr. Al-Junaid, Dr. Al-Fardi, and Mr. Basunbul offered their thanks for all the tireless efforts made by President Al-Zubaidi to restore the bright face of the South in various fields, the most important of which is the cultural field, as well as his generous support and patronage of the activities and events that have been implemented by the SWU.
