The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting on Monday evening, chaired by Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly.
At the beginning of their meeting, the members of the STC's Presidium stood for a moment of silence in tribute to read Al-Fatiha for the soul of the deceased of the great homeland, Major General Saleh Al-Sayyid, the staff of the Southern Land Forces, Lahj Security Director, and all the martyrs of the South who sacrificed their lives to defend and protect its land, security, and stability.
At the meeting, the Presidium reviewed the developments in the political arena, foremost of which is the path of the peace process, in which the official brothers in the Arab Coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, are making efforts, with the support of the international community, to reach a comprehensive and sustainable solution in the entire region. In this respect, the Presidium reaffirmed its absolute support for the efforts of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC, and his supportive positions for the brothers in the Arab coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in their efforts to bring peace and restore stability to the entire region, and in this regard, they reiterated the support of the STC for the endeavours of the international community in supporting this initiative.
The Presidium reaffirmed that the South seeks no secession but rather restoring its usurped state with full sovereignty as a strategic goal for the people of the South, which neither deviates from it nor accepts any other alternatives under any circumstances, underscoring that the two-state solution is the only way to a comprehensive settlement and achieve lasting peace, security, and stability in the entire region.
In the same context, the Presidium affirmed that the negotiating framework for the cause of the people of the South must be commensurate with the size of the South as a proactive party in the political process and its full right to agree on all issues related to the South and the negotiating process in all its phases, including the phase of confidence-building and ceasing the war on all extended fronts on its borders.
In this context, the Presidium underscored the STC's categorical rejection of any measures aimed at harming the South and its sovereign economic resources, at a time when the salaries of army and security personnel have gone unpaid in the South and they are deprived of their basic rights.
The Presidium stressed the STC's adherence to the right of the South to recognize all political, economic, financial, military, and security issues, whatever related to the South or affected the rights and interests of its people, and sovereignty over its resources and land.
In another context, the Presidium discussed the outcomes of the meetings held by the acting president of the STC with the Council's bodies, syndicates, and unions, in addition to the two reports presented by the Supreme Body for Southern Women and the Decision-Making Support Center, and took the appropriate measures.
