The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, received on Tuesday, at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, officials from the United Kingdom Mission, headed by Deputy Head of the Mission and Chargé d'Affairs to Ambassador Simon Smart, and the Political Attaché, Mr. James Wheatley.
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi reviewed the efforts made by the Southern Transitional Council to implement the Riyadh Agreement and the mechanism for its acceleration, indicating that the Southern Transitional Council had completed the delivery of all plans required to implement the agreed mechanism, including the separation of forces in Abyan governorate and their transfer to the fronts, as well as the transfer of military forces out of the capital Aden.
President Al-Zubaidi noted to the need for the international community to support the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by exerting the necessary pressure on the other side to accelerate the transfer of forces to the fronts, and to stop the stalling that delayed the formation of the government, whose tasks are supposed to begin to alleviate the suffering of citizens through providing services and stopping the disbursement of salaries, and addressing the crisis of currency collapse, and resolving the issues of retirees, deportees, and teachers, in order to avoid further collapse of the humanitarian and living situation in the liberated governorates.
President Al-Zubaidi affirmed the continuation of the Transitional Council's efforts alongside the international community in combating terrorism, fighting extremism, and supporting peace efforts, pointing to the need for the effective participation of the Southern Transitional Council in the various stages of the comprehensive political process sponsored by the United Nations without any exclusion or delay.
For his part, Mr. Simon Smart expressed his country's support for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in implementing the Riyadh Agreement and forming the new government, appreciating the role of the Southern Transitional Council and its positive attitude towards the urgent implementation of the agreement.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammad Al-Ghaithi, Deputy Head of the General Department for Foreign Affairs of the Council, Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Member of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, and Mr. Adel Mutlaq, Member of the General Department of Foreign Affairs.
