The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, met on Thursday in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United Arab Emirates, Sergei Kuznetsov, and the Political Affairs Officer, Maxim Slisarev.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the political and military arena in the region in general and in the south in particular, as well as ways of coordination and cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Southern Transitional Council, in order to promote peace and stability in the region.
The President of the Southern Transitional Council stressed that the South is moving steadily and deliberately towards the restoration of the state and southern identity, pointing out that the Transitional Council looks forward to creating partnership, coordination, and cooperation relations with the Russian friends, stressing on the importance of the Russian role in the region, calling on the Russian side to reopen their embassy in the capital Aden.
For his part, the Russian ambassador and his accompanying delegation expressed their pleasure to meet with President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi and showed their appreciation for the position of the Transitional Council in supporting peace, affirming their openness to the South and the respect of its options.
The Russian ambassador pointed to the historical relationship between our country and the Russian Federation, stressing on the several Russian-South joint achievements, declaring his country's support to the peace process and the need to support stability and to combat terrorism and extremism, and not to give a chance to the elements that do not want peace in the country.
