The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, received in his office in Aden the capital, on Wednesday, the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), headed by Mr. Matthias Kempf, Head of the Red Cross Mission in Aden, and the ICRC's Director of Operations, Dominique Stellehart.
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi praised the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross in supporting the peace process in Yemen, as well as the efforts of the ICRC in the humanitarian fields, foremost of which is the exchanges of many prisoners.
President Al-Zubaidi and Mr. Kempf discussed areas of joint cooperation between the Southern Transitional Council and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to face the humanitarian challenges in the southern governorates, particularly the damage caused by the brutal war on the south by the Houthi militias.
President Al-Zubaidi stressed on the cooperation between the Transitional Council Committee for Relief and Humanitarian Affairs and the International Committee of the Red Cross in order to get the assistance and aids to those who really deserve it, especially with the restoration of security and stability in all governorates of the south that facilitated the process of reaching to the citizens and meeting their needs and starting the rehabilitation of health and services facilities.
For his part, Mr. Kempf thanked the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council expressing his great satisfaction for the positive cooperation provided by the Security Directorate of Aden, represented by Major General Shalal Ali Shayea, and facilitating the implementation of the action plans of the ICRC.
The meeting also dealt with the development of hospitals under the supervision of the ICRC and the possibility of providing assistance through qualifying the southern medical cadres as per the required specialties.
The two sides agreed to work on a mechanism of activating cooperation between the Transitional Council Committee for Relief and Humanitarian Affairs and the International Committee of the Red Cross to develop local staff and to work on rehabilitation and capacity building of the humanitarian work.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Nasser Al-Khubji, and Eng. Adnan Al-Kaff, members of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council.
