President Al-Zubaidi Gets Briefed on Coast Guard Forces' Readiness
His Excellency President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Monday with Major General Khaled Al-Qumali, Head of the Head of the Coast Guard Authority.
During the meeting, the President was briefed on the workflow at the Coast Guard Authority, the level of readiness of its forces and equipment in carrying out coastal security missions, curbing smuggling, and strengthening maritime security.
The meeting reviewed training and qualification programmes for Coast Guard officers and personnel, as well as the support provided by the international community, and ways to make use of the assistance approved at the Maritime Security Conference hosted by the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the Coast Guard forces and enabling them to monitor and protect the maritime borders.
At the end of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi stressed the importance of the role of the Coast Guard forces in safeguarding the maritime corridors in the country, which serve as a vital artery for global trade and a guarantee for international energy security, and highlighted that protecting these vital waterways is a shared responsibility that serves the security of the region and the world.
