STC Secretariat Discusses Economic Landscape Report on National Scene of the South

The General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Monday, at its headquarters in the capital, Aden, headed by Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Haidara al-Shaqqi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Secretariat.

The meeting discussed a report on the economic landscape during the month of August 2024 and a range of service-related issues, with a focus on a surge in school supply costs as well as tuition fees at private schools, as well as decreased funding for dam construction. This has resulted in rainwater being drained into the sea rather than being harnessed for agricultural irrigation.

The meeting touched on the organizational report focusing on enhancing and developing the performance of the departments of the Secretariat departments and local leadership executive bodies (LLEBs) in the governorates. In this context, several appropriate measures were taken to strengthen the STC's field work and effectively contribute to meeting the needs of citizens in the governorates of the South.

The meeting concluded with a focus on the aftermath of a gas station explosion in Al-Mansoura district, which resulted in the death of three people and injuries to 18 others. Therefore, several suggestions and recommendations were put forward to streamline the process of supplying at official stations and ensure the continued provision of services to citizens.

The Secretariat reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous meeting, after incorporating raised remarks, in addition to the weekly activity report of its departments.
