President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), engaged in a virtual meeting today, Saturday, with her Excellency Catherine Corm-Kammoun, Ambassador of the Republic of France to Yemen.

During the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, Member of the STC's Presidium, Head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission (CRC) in the PLC, Dr. Nasser Al-Khubbaji, Head of the Political Commission of the STC, Head of the Negotiations Unit, and Dr. Saleh Mohsen Al-Haj, Head of the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority (FAEA) of the STC, President Al-Zubaidi discussed with the French ambassador the latest developments in the humanitarian situation, recent progress related to the peace process, and the implications of the United Nations roadmap in light of the ongoing Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The two sides also discussed security and military updates across the liberated governorates, particularly efforts to counter-terrorism, secure territorial waters, address the Houthi militia's continued mobilization on several fronts, and the repercussions of these actions on efforts to cease the war and establish peace.

The meeting further delved into the economic situation in the country, including the government's endeavors to provide basic services, primarily electricity, stop the rapid collapse of the value of the local currency, and implement initiatives to develop alternative revenue sources amidst the ongoing halt in oil and gas exports.

At the end of the meeting, the French ambassador reiterated the commitment of her country's government to supporting the PLC and continuing its humanitarian assistance to alleviate the suffering of the people in light of the current circumstances, indicating the possibility of expanding French-backed humanitarian interventions in the fields of water, sanitation, support for fishermen, and women's empowerment.
