Al-Kathiri Chairs Expanded Meeting to Discuss Overall Situation with GFWUS and Representatives of Military and Security Bodies of the South

Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik, Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), chaired today, Sunday, in the capital, Aden, the periodic meeting of the administrative body of the National Assembly of the STC for the month of September of the current year 2023.
At the beginning of the meeting, Major General Bin Brik gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of restructuring the institutions and bodies of the STC, including the Assembly, which comes in line with the tasks and entitlements of the upcoming stage, and congratulated Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri on gaining the confidence of the political leadership of the STC for chairing the Assembly, urging the members of the administrative body to intensify efforts with the newly appointed chairman to accomplish the tasks ahead of the Assembly for the upcoming period.
In his speech during the meeting, Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri, a member of the STC's presidium and the chairman of the Assembly, thanked Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik, lauded his exerted efforts in laying the basic principles that will be further developed in the next period, wished him success in all his tasks, and encouraged him to pursue his support of the assembly.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the most prominent developments in the UN-Med political process, the visit paid by the UN Special Envoy and the US Special Envoy in following up on the ceasefire, and the comprehensive and inclusive political and negotiating process.
In this context, the administrative body emphasized that the people of the South and their political leadership are committed to the right to restore their state with its full sovereignty, rejecting any attempts to exclude or bypass these rights and the cause of the people from any agreements and negotiations, and the importance of forming a joint negotiating team and developing a special framework for the cause of the people of the South.
Additionally, the meeting focused on the living and service conditions, underscoring the importance of the power-sharing government properly assuming its responsibilities in improving the conditions and alleviating the suffering of the people and addressing the file of African migrants and the burdens it poses to the lives of citizens and social peace, in addition to the problem of displacement, which has caused great pressure on the level of services and the need to relocate them on the outskirts of the cities.
Likewise, the administrative body reiterated its call on international organizations to play their role in returning them to their countries, providing assistance to local authorities in the governorates of the South, and addressing the problems caused by their influx from the Horn of Africa.
To the end of their meeting, they commended the role of the southern armed forces and the massive victory they have been achieving in confronting the Houthis and terrorism, calling on the official brothers in the Arab-led coalition and the international community to support the southern armed forces in their war against the terrorist militias and elements and to strengthen the foundations of security and stability in the governorates of the South.
