President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), attended today, Monday, in the capital, Aden, the 100-day death anniversary of the late heroic fighter, Major General Saleh Al-Sayed, Staff of the Southern Land Forces, and Security Director General of Lahj Governorate.
In the memorial event, which was inaugurated with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem of the South, and tributedly read Al-Fatiha for the soul of the deceased of the South, President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi delivered a speech saluting the family and relatives of the late hero Saleh Al-Sayed, expressing his pride in participating in this memorial ceremony for one of the distinguished leaders who made great sacrifices for the honour and dignity of the southern homeland and maintaining its security and stability.
President Al-Zubaidi asserted that the heroic commander, Saleh Al-Sayed, passed away physically, but his spirit was and will definitely remain present in everyone's conscience, with the immortal heroism and feats he accomplished throughout his life's journey full of giving.
The President indicated that Major General Saleh Al-Sayed was an essential pillar of the southern armed forces and that the firm pledge to him and to the blessed martyrs who ultimately gave their precious souls for the goal of restoring and building the independent state of the South was to walk in their footsteps and not give up this right despite the high cost of sacrifices and challenges.
After that, the President handed a memorial shield to the family and relatives of the deceased in gratitude and appreciation for the unrelenting and long struggles of the deceased, his national roles, the remarkable contributions he made in laying the solid foundations of the Southern Armed Forces, and the ultimate sacrifices against the threat of the Houthi militia and terrorist organizations.
In turn, Mr. Fadhl Al-Gaadi, member of the Presidium of the STC, Deputy Secretary-General, and Head of the Preparatory Committee for the memorial ceremony, delivered the speech of the committee. Initially, he extended thanks to President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi for his generous patronage of this memorial ceremony, enumerating the qualities and merits of the deceased and the contributions and sacrifices he made in bringing victory for the cause of the South and maintaining security and stability.
In the context of his speech, Mr. Al-Gaadi thanked the family of the deceased for the major efforts they have made in facilitating the work of the committee to prepare and make this memorial event a success, emphasizing that this event is only a small part of the abundant struggles of the deceased and the sacrifices he made.
For his part, Mr. Hashem Al-Sayed, the brother of the deceased, also gave a speech on behalf of the family of the deceased, at the beginning of which he thanked President Al-Zubaidi for the special attention he paid to holding this memorial event and his continuous communication with them, asserting that he would follow the path of the deceased standing behind President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi until the full achievement of all the goals for which the deceased vowed his life.
Furthermore, the poet Mohsen Ali Al-Sulaimani read a poem in lamentation of the deceased, followed by displaying a documentary film that included bright scenes from the various struggling stages in the march of the late deceased, testimonies of political leaders and military commanders of the special qualities and national roles of the deceased, and his most prominent human characteristics towards his family members, colleagues, and comrades.
The memorial ceremony was attended by a number of members of the STC’s Presidium, the Governor of Lahj Governorate, Major General Ahmed Abdullah Al-Turki, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri; Major General Ali Ahmed Al-Bishi, Commander of the Land Forces, many heads of auxiliary bodies of the STC; heads of National Assembly committees; departments of the General Secretariat; heads of local leaderships in the governorates of the South, officials of local authorities in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of Lahj and Abyan, military commanders and security officers; and a large group of true-lovers of the deceased.
