Women and Children Department of the Southern Transitional Council inaugurates Women Sectors in Abyan

The Women and Children Department of the Southern Transitional Council inaugurated on Sunday the women and children sectors in Abyan province in the districts of Zanzibar and Khanfar. The Head of the Women and Children Department of the Transitional Council, Nour Fadhl, said that the women of Abyan are always racing to work in all fields, they are farmers, factory workers, teachers and politicians. They have been leader in the different stages of the southern struggle. In her speech, Nour Fadhl referred to the importance of spreading awareness among women and girls about the significance of education, pointing out to some behaviors of children in general and girls in particular such as dropping out of education, marriage of minors due to poverty and the need for money. For his part, Mohsen Abd, the head deputy of the local leadership in Abyan, said that it is important for women to participate in the activities in Abyan, noting that the local leadership in Abyan is counting on the role of women as the real translator for delivering the voice of the governorate. It is worth mentioning that this launch comes within the program of the Women and Children Department of the Southern Transitional Council on the expansion of women's sectors, that starts from 4 November to 2 December 2018 and includes 24 centers and regions.
