Presidential Committee Announces Securing Emergency Fuel Supply for Power Stations of the Capital, Aden, During Ramadan

The committee tasked by President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), announced on Monday the provision of emergency fuel supplies for power generation stations in the capital, Aden, to maintain stable-supply operation and alleviate the suffering faced by residents throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The committee, which includes the ministers of Electricity and Energy, Transport, and the minister of state and governor of the capital, Aden, along with the chairman of the Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation, confirmed that it remains in an open-ended session to finalize urgent technical, administrative, and financial measures. This aims to leverage the previously allocated $21,342,800 documentary credit for a 100-megawatt floating power plant project to secure the necessary fuel for electricity generation plants.

The committee highlighted urgent requirements, including approximately 18,000 tonnes of diesel and 13,000 tonnes of mazut (heavy fuel oil), urging the government and PLC to take all appropriate measures to secure fuel supplies ahead of the coming summer season.
