Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, chaired today, Sunday, a high-level meeting at the Assembly’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, that included the STC’s political team and its ministers in the government to study the dire economic and living conditions and explore ways to support the rights of our people of the South to prioritize the basic needs and their right to a decent life.
The meeting reaffirmed the STC's support for all the legitimate rights of the people of the South, as expressed by the transitional council and civil society organizations and the general federation of workers' unions of the South, amid a collapse of public services, deteriorating living conditions, unpaid salaries, and currency decline, while state institutions are paralyzed and the government and the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) have no action to fulfill their duties and alleviate the suffering.
The meeting emphasized the urgent need for the state and its institutions to assume their full responsibilities towards the people and to meet their legitimate rights, which essentially represent their basic necessities for a decent life, expressing its unwavering support for the demands of the civil society organizations and labor unions of the South.
