President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), has met on Wednesday with H.E. Mustafa Bulat, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Yemen.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments relating to the political and humanitarian situation in the country in light of the ongoing Houthi escalation in international shipping lanes in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden, which have severely exacerbated the country's dire economic and humanitarian repercussions and posed a serious threat to international maritime security and trade as a whole.
The meeting also reviewed ways to strengthen bilateral relations with the Republic of Turkiye and topics of mutual interest, including increasing Turkiye's humanitarian support to the country, leveraging Turkish expertise in infrastructure rehabilitation, and studying the feasibility of launching a Turkish shipping line to and from Aden International Airport.
President Al-Zubaidi praised the role of Turkiye in supporting humanitarian efforts in the country, highlighting the importance of strengthening cooperation with Turkiye in a way that contributes to promoting security and stability and improving the living conditions of citizens.
For his part, the Turkish ambassador has reaffirmed the backing of the government of his country for the PLC and the government in their efforts to end the crisis facing the country and achieve stability and development and expressed readiness to strengthen bilateral relations in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries.
