President Al-Zubaidi Participates in High-Level Multilateral International Meeting to Discuss Recent Developments in the Country

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), participated within the delegation of the PLC headed by Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi today, Wednesday, in an international multilateral meeting, that included the US Special Envoy to Yemen, Mr. Tim Lenderking, with senior officials from Britain, France, Australia, the European Union, Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79) in New York City, USA.

During the meeting, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates (FAE) Dr. Shae'a al-Zandani, the latest political, humanitarian, and security developments in the country were reviewed, and the pressure required from the international community and major powers to compel the Houthi militia to constructively engage with regional and international efforts to durably bring about a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace in the country and the region was highlighted.

The meeting also touched upon the trajectory of economic, service, and institutional reforms led by the PLC and the government; ways to support and strengthen these reforms as the best option to enhance peace prospects, alleviate the dire humanitarian suffering of citizens, and mitigate the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden were discussed.
