Al-Kathiri Gets Briefed on Interventions of French Organization MEHAD in the South


Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, received today, Sunday, a medical delegation of the French MEHAD Organization.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Al-Kathiri welcomed the visiting medical delegation from the organization. He was briefed by the organization's mission chief, Ms. Audrey Pichet, and the organization's medical coordinator, Mr. Pierre Cator, on the organization's nature of work and its interventions in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of the South, which focus on the health sector and meeting the needs of health centers in remote areas.

Al-Kathiri was also briefed on the organization's future plans to support sustainable development projects and provide medical care across various sectors. He was informed about their programs, which include training and qualifying medical staff and equipping health centers and hospitals with the required medical equipment and drugs. It is worth mentioning that the organization has already started its first interventions in this field in Lawdar District, Abyan Governorate, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, with plans to expand to other governorates of the South.

The Acting President of the Council stressed the importance of joint cooperation and  coordination between the organization and the STC Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority (FAEA) and the health and social affairs committees and civil society committees of the National Assembly to provide all required facilities to the organization to accomplish its tasks efficiently and effectively.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Jakleen Al-Battani, Head of the Social Affairs and Civil Society Organizations Committee of the National Assembly, Dr. Najeeb Qayid, Head of the Department of International Organizations and Human Rights at the FAEA, and Mr. Tariq Abu Bakr, Assistant Head of the Mission of the French MAHAD Organization.
