Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and official spokesman of the STC, paid a visit on Wednesday to the Faculty of Media at the University of Aden.
During the visit, in which he was accompanied by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe'y, Deputy Head of NSMA, Mr. Al-Awlaqi met with Associate Professor Dr. Wahib Mahdi Aziban, Dean of the Faculty of Media, who briefed him on the college’s sections and its academic and educational activities.
At the meeting, Mr. Al-Awlaqi confirmed that this faculty is one of the enlightened gains of the University of Aden, which was founded in the seventies of the last century and made under the rule of the South at that time, pointing to the special importance that the faculty of media occupies in qualifying young southern students, both male and female, with scientific and academic media knowledge in light of the tremendous development of the media and its various means.
Al-Awlaqi added that the STC, and in particular NSMA, as the media homefront of the South, believes that it is necessary to support this nascent college with the material and knowledge-based capabilities to arm youth of the South with the required media journalistic skills, and that the faculty is a top priority for NSMA to provide it with more support during the coming stage.
For his part, Dr. Aziban highly appreciated the role of NSMA in communicating and coordinating with academic and media institutions in the capital, Aden, and its constant communication with the college deanship and its teaching staff, thanking the provided support during this paid visit to the college, which will effectively contribute to improving working conditions in the college.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Saddam Abdullah Ali, Dr. Abdullah Al-Haw, and Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Hadi, Deputy Dean of the College of Media, and Ms. Hoda Al-Kazmi, a faculty member, and a number of professors at the faculty.
